Our delicious hazelnuts are from chemical-free orchards in the Fraser Valley, British Columbia. They are mostly the Jefferson varietals. Due to a number of issues this year, the heat dome being a major one, it has caused the hazelnuts to be smaller in size, this has also affected the cracking and grading; so the hazelnuts this year are a combination of halves, with some whole nuts. They are as delicious as ever.
Our hazelnuts are dried and shelled at 33º C. They are especially delicious when sprouted. Because they are so fresh, they are still quite soft. If you like your nuts crunchy then dehydrate them, or put them in a low oven at 200 - 250º for 1 hour, then leave them to cool completely.
