Pumpkin Seeds-Styrian • Raw • Austria

$15.00 On Sale

NOTE our regular supply of pumpkin seeds is back ordered. And unfortunately, the only ones they had in stock were packed in a facility that also bags peanuts. So though the likelihood of contact is incredibly low, we need to let customers know that. We will have our usual supply by the end of March.

These large luminous dark green pumpkin seeds are from Styria, Austria. They are certified organic. Styrian pumpkin seeds have a delicious, nutty flavour. They are rich in magnesium and phosphorus, and a good source of zinc and iron. They also have B vitamins and protein, making them a nutritious, flavourful snack.

The Styrian pumpkin was only discovered about 150 years ago. It is a naturally occurring HULLESS pumpkin seed. This means there is no seed casing like you would find on the more common "shine-skin" pumpkin seed. The hull that remains on the Styrian seeds is a very thin silvery layer that can be seen on some seeds after drying. This can be mistaken for mold, but is simply the last vestiges of the hull.

The Styrian pumpkin seed is specifically grown for its superior nutritional content than the shine-skin seeds. It is supposed to be richer in both fat-soluble antioxidants and water-soluble antioxidants, when compared to the seeds of the shine-skin, more common pumpkin.
