Iskiate / Chia Fresca

Chia Seed Recipe

This is the traditional "gatorade" before commercial drinks were made. Aztecs drank it thousands of years before we existed. Perfect for long haul cardio workouts or post training replenishment.


2 cups of water or coconut water
1 tbsp of chia seeds
1 tsp of lemon or lime juice
1 tsp of sweetener: honey, maple syrup, agave
optional: I love adding in ginger &/or goji berries but that is not the traditional method...


Put the chia into the water and let sit for 10 minutes stirring well to combine (they like to sit at the bottom). It does become like a gel - a very nutritious one! Add in the remaining ingredients and enjoy!
