This nutritious dip goes well with fresh, raw vegetables or crackers. Olives, high in antioxidants, contain healthy fats associated with reduce inflammation, reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and lowered blood pressure.

They are filled with healthy fats and have been linked to such great health benefits as reducing the risk of heart disease, lowering cholesterol, building strong bones and teeth, aiding in weight loss and lowering blood sugar.

 

Ingredients

1/2 cup pitted green olives
1/4 cup almonds
1 tsp fresh basil
1 tsp lemon juice
2 tbsp plain yogurt 
Dash of your favourite hot pepper sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

 

Method

Combine olives, almonds, basil, lemon juice, yogurt, hot pepper sauce, and salt/pepper in a food processor. Pulse until roughly chopped. Add oil in a steady stream and process just until the oil is absorbed. The spread should have a coarse but easily spoonable texture. Let stand for about 30 minutes for the flavor to develop.

Serve with your favourite fresh organic vegetables, crackers or use as a spread in sandwiches.
