Planet Money Interviews NUT•HUT!

In early April, we got to be on a podcast with NPR called "Planet Money" talking about the current tariff situation between us in Canada and our friends in the US.
In early March, Amanda Aronczyk, from Planet Money, got on the phone with me to talk tariffs and its effect on our business, and to test the waters to see if the challenges being faced by businesses like ours was maybe something worth a share with her listeners.
Amanda then got a chance to chat with us, our broker, Ray, our pecan supplier, Shirley, and a number of our customers when she flew from New York to hang out in our shop for a couple of days. The episode was aired after about, oooohhh, 12 hours of taping. Most of it ended up out in space, but 25 minutes of madness made it into one of their episodes! It was fun, and a bit nerve wracking. Honestly the best part was getting to hang out with Amanda, who is such a delightful person, and such a great story teller.
Here's the link to the Planet Money episode that also includes a transcript, where I can actually see that I use the word "LIKE" in every sentence. Which is not how I usually speak, but like, I guess when I am on the spot, it's like I default to sounding like a teenager amped up on Red Bull, (or what I imagine they would sound like, having never had one of those drinks.) It was definitely an embarrassing time for me listening to the episode, but the info comes across of the journey we have been on in the last few months as we have navigated tariffs amid a really challenging, constantly changing, political landscape. There is also a three minute episode that got aired on NPR's morning edition, found here.
And in case you missed the newsletter where we had laid out how we had chosen to approach the issues of continuing to support our farmers in the US, you can find the article here.
